# Case packs on invoices

A pack size printed on an invoice line is now read against how the item is counted. A pack that could mean more than one thing is asked about before anything is saved.

![A Harbor Food Service invoice in review: 4/3# does not mention tub, so Whipped cream cheese offers 1 CS = 4 tub switched off and needs an answer, while the new Sunflower seed spread starts counted in lb with 1 CS = 10 lb filled in, and Confirm 2 lines waits.](https://handbook.company/marketing/updates/case-packs-on-invoices.webp)

## What was asked for

Distributor invoices print a pack beside each line, such as 4/3# for four tubs of three pounds or 1/15CT for a case of fifteen. The review read those packs before it knew how the item was counted. A case of cream cheese counted in tubs could be saved as twelve tubs, and a new item made from an invoice line was counted in cases.

## What changed

The review now reads a pack against the unit the item is counted in. When the pack names that unit, as 4/3# does for an item counted in pounds, the line fills in what one case holds without asking.

When it does not, the number is a guess. The line says what it read the number from and asks. An invoice will not confirm until the guess is answered, the line is set to another unit, or the line is skipped. Stock added from the invoice uses the same reading the line showed.

## How new items start

A new item from an invoice line now offers the units its pack names, such as pounds or tubs for 2/5#, with what one case holds filled in for each. The case is still on the list, and is no longer where a new item starts.

## What stays the same

A receipt on a shopping trip shows the same question to an admin and does not hold up the trip. A line left unanswered keeps the quantity that was logged and records no price. Workers are not asked what a case holds.
