# Count and buy in any unit

Count an item in bags, cases or any other unit it has. Each item can also say which unit its counts start in and which unit the shopping list shows it in.

## Counting in any unit

Stock is kept in one unit per item, and a count used to be entered in that unit only. Coffee kept in pounds and shelved in five-pound bags meant working out the pounds before typing anything. The check now has a unit picker beside the number, listing every unit the item has. The number converts when you switch, and the line under it says what will be saved, so 3 bags is saved as 15 lb.

## Counted as and bought as

Each item can have a unit its counts start in and a unit the shopping list shows it in. An admin can set them on the item's Units card, or tick the box that appears in the check or shopping dialog after switching unit. Items without them work as before: counts start in the item's own unit, and the shopping list uses the unit the supplier's price is for.
