# Finish setting up the menu

Shipped · October 9, 2026 · 1.46.0 · Standards and recipes

One page lists what is left before every item on your menu has a full cost, with the fix to do first at the top and most fixes done right there.

![Finish setting up the menu on a phone: 5 of 12 sizes have a full cost, 6 are missing part of their cost and 1 has no cost yet. The Next card says Oat Milk has no price that costs can use yet and that it is the last thing missing for 5 sizes, with Set the price. Below it, two items are asked whether they are made here from a recipe or bought ready, one with Use the Chai Latte recipe.](https://handbook.company/marketing/updates/finish-setting-up-the-menu.webp)

## What was asked for

A menu brought in from a file or a photo arrives with prices but often without costs: items that do not say what they are made of, ingredients with no price, syrups measured in pumps nobody has counted. Owners asked for one place that says what is left and lets them work through it.

## How the page works

Finish setting up the menu counts the sizes on your menu that have a full cost and lists each missing thing once, grouped by what fixes it. Oat milk with no price shows once with the sizes it holds up, however many recipes, sizes and options use it. The fix that finishes the most sizes, or the most sales when a typical day is set, is at the top.

Most rows fix in place. Set the price opens one sheet for the supplier, the price and the unit it is sold by, with a new unit for a case. Add pump says how many pumps are in a bottle, once for everything that uses it. An item that says nothing about what it is made of asks whether it is made here from a recipe or bought ready, and links the recipe of the same name in one tap when its sizes match.

## What the page never guesses

The page never fills in a number you have not given. A loaf sold by the slice opens the item with its recipe picked and asks how many slices one loaf makes. When an item has more than one unit, the price sheet asks which one a price is for. A row says a fix is the last thing an item is missing only when the costs show it.

## Where to find it

A card on Menu items shows how many sizes have a full cost and links to the page. An import's added items, an item's costs and Unit economics link to it too. Nothing is stored for the page, so you can stop part way and come back to the same list.
