# Pack weights and case lines

A pack printed in pounds or gallons now fills in items counted in ounces, and a case spelled out on a receipt is read as the one case it is.

![Reviewing a Harbor Food Service invoice: Whipped cream cheese packed 4/3# fills in 1 CS = 192 oz, and Whole milk packed 4/1 GAL fills in 1 CS = 512 fl oz, both switched on so neither line waits for an answer.](https://handbook.company/marketing/updates/pack-weights-and-case-lines.webp)

## What was wrong

An invoice line packed as 4/3# is four packages of three pounds. For an item counted in ounces, the review suggested four, the number of packages, when the case holds 192 ounces. The line waited for an answer, but the number it offered was one nobody should have accepted.

Restaurant Depot receipts spell a case out under the line, as CASES 1 UNITS 6, and print a tax code beside the unit. The review did not take that line as the case, so it asked what one case held with nothing filled in. One reading of such a receipt also took the six units for the number of cases bought.

On the narrowest phones, the choice between the receipt's amount and the amount logged on the trip took two lines.

## What changed

A pack in pounds, gallons or litres now converts into the unit an item is counted in when it is the same kind of measure, so 4/3# fills in 192 ounces and 4/1 GAL fills in 512 fluid ounces. Those are filled in for you, the same as a pack that names the item's own unit. An ounce printed on a pack is only suggested in pounds, because packs use OZ for fluid ounces too. Where a pack says nothing about a weight or a volume, the line asks with the field empty instead of suggesting a count.

A Restaurant Depot case line is read as one case of the units it lists, and the line suggests that number for the item. When the reading takes the units for the quantity, the line is stored as the one case the receipt says it is.

On a trip, the sentence above each choice already gives both amounts, so the choices are shorter: Use receipt or Keep Got, and Restock or Don't restock for a line that was not on the list. Each pair fits on one line on a 320 pixel wide phone.

## What stays the same

A number the review only guesses at still waits for an answer before an invoice is confirmed, and every answer can be changed before it is saved. Lines already confirmed keep what they recorded.
