A unit for each supplier

Each supplier can now have its own unit for an item, so the shopping list and receipts read bread in packs from one store and by the loaf from another.

September 29, 2026 · 1.31.0

Suppliers and prices for the bread, each supplier with a unit of its own: Big Box Club, the primary supplier, says Bought in 2-pack, and Corner Market, overridden at Kiosk, says Bought in Loaf.

What was asked for

Most items come from more than one place, and each place sells in its own size. A warehouse club sells bread two loaves to a pack, and the grocery store down the road sells single loaves. The unit an item is bought in was set once for the whole item, so the shopping list could only be right for one of those stores, and a receipt from the other one started in the wrong unit.

What changed

Each of an item's suppliers can now have a unit of its own. The shopping list shows a row in the unit you buy the item in from that row's supplier, so the same bread reads as 5 2-packs for the location that shops at the warehouse club and 10 loaves for the one that shops at the grocery store. A receipt or invoice line from that supplier with no unit printed starts in it too, and says so.

How to set a supplier's unit

On the shopping list, pick the unit you bought in and tick the box to buy the item in that unit from that supplier by default. The unit list also offers New unit, so a 6-pack can be added without leaving the list.

In receipt and invoice review, the Remember box now appears whenever a line's unit is not what the shopping list or the next receipt from that supplier would use, including a unit the document printed. Confirming the line makes it that supplier's unit.

On an item, each supplier under Suppliers and prices says the unit you buy in there, and its menu has an option to change it. Setting a unit is for admins.

What stays the same

An item's own Buy in unit still applies to any supplier without a unit of its own. Prices are still shown per the unit they were recorded in, and stock is still kept in the item's primary unit.
