Checklists that ask for a number, a note or a photo
A checklist item can require a temperature, a short note or a photo, and the box will not tick until it has one.

A tick is not always enough
A checkbox records that somebody said a thing was done. For most work that is the right amount of ceremony. For a fridge temperature, a cleaning photo or a reading somebody will want to look back at, it is not, and teams were writing those into a notes field or keeping them on paper beside the tablet.
What an item can ask for
Each item in the editor gets an "Asks for" control: a number with a unit you type yourself, a short text, and a photo that can be off, optional or required. An item can ask for any combination alongside its checkbox.
- An item that asks for a number or a text cannot be ticked until it has one, so a run cannot be completed by tapping through it.
- Photos are attached to the item rather than the whole checklist, so a month later it is clear which one the photo was of.
- Everything recorded this way shows up in the checklist reports, where it can be read back over time.
What people asked for
- Record a temperature against a checklist item, not just tick it.
- Attach a photo as proof that something was done.

Everything on this page started with somebody saying something was awkward. Questions count, and so does telling us a thing is harder than it should be.
