Inventory checks are due by the calendar day

An item counted on a Monday every 7 days is now due from the start of the next Monday, and the check list says which day each item is next due.

October 10, 2026 · 1.51.0

The end of a location's inventory check list. Each row gives its next check as a date, such as Sunday, Oct 18 or Tuesday, Oct 13. Paper Towels reads Monday, Oct 19, with a note that its 7-day cadence is stretched to every 14 days while the count isn't changing.

What was asked for

A cafe owner counts her stock on Mondays. The app worked out when a check was due by counting hours, so an item she counted on a Monday afternoon with a 7-day cadence was not due again until the afternoon of the next Monday. Her Monday morning count skipped it, and it turned up halfway through the day instead.

How the days are counted

A check is now due on a calendar day, in the location's own time zone. Counted at any time on a Monday, a weekly item is due from the start of the next Monday, so the whole count happens on the day you do it.

Each location takes the time zone of the first admin's device to open it, and a new location takes the zone of the device it is made on. The location's settings show the zone, so a location somewhere else can be set to its own. An item counted empty comes back to be confirmed by the same calendar days, and a row checked earlier today reads as checked today until midnight there.

Stretching in whole weeks

When count after count finds the same number, an item is checked less often, so quiet items do not crowd the list. That stretch used to grow by half each time, which moved a weekly item off its weekday after one quiet count. It now grows in whole cycles: a weekly Monday item goes to every other Monday after two unchanged counts, every third after three, and every fourth after that. Any count that finds a change puts it back to every week.

Where the next check shows

The check list gives each item's next check as a date, such as Monday, Oct 19, instead of a number of days. A stretched item says so in its row: every 7 days, stretched to every 14 while the count isn't changing. The item's Checks card says the same for each location it is kept at, and its settings explain how the days are counted.

What people asked for

  • Asked for checks to fall due on the day rather than the hour, so a weekly count on the same weekday catches every item that is due.
