Storage areas with a photo of each

Mark the spots inside a shop where stock is kept, like the walk-in or the bar, with a photo of each. The inventory check now walks them in your order.

Counting Espresso Beans at Downtown Cafe on a phone. The count dialog says the beans are in the Bar and also in the Back room, and shows a photo of the bar shelf above the box for the new count, so whoever counts knows where to look.

What was asked for

The cafe owner behind our last round of fixes wanted to mark where each item is kept inside her shop, with a photo of the spot, and some items live in more than one place. The app had nowhere to put that, so she had made her fridge, her freezer and the front and back of the shop into separate locations, each with its own stock to count.

How storage areas work

On the Locations page, each location now has storage areas: the walk-in, the pantry, the shelf under the counter. Give each one a photo and put them in the order you walk the shop. Open an area to pick every item kept in it at once, or set an item's areas from the item's own page. An item can be in more than one area.

A location still keeps one count per item. Areas say where to look, and counts, history and the shopping list work as they did.

How the inventory check uses them

At a location with storage areas, the guided check goes area by area in your order, so whoever counts walks the shop once. Each item shows its area and the area's photo. An item kept in two places is counted once, under the first of its areas, and the dialog names the other one. Items not in any area come last, and a location without areas is walked by tag as before.

Turning tags into areas

If you used tags such as BOH Fridge or Freezer to say where things are, Make areas from tags turns the ones you pick into storage areas at a location and puts the tagged items in them. The tags stay on the items. Naming a new location like a spot inside a shop now suggests a storage area instead.
