Supplier prices on a re-uploaded stock list

Uploading a stock list again now names every supplier price it changes, leaves alone the usual supplier you chose, and Undo puts all of it back.

October 10, 2026 · 1.53.0

An applied stock list card in the assistant panel. It says the file named Metro Wholesale Inc. and the handbook supplier Metro Wholesale was used, lists two prices it changed with the old and new amounts, a case price kept beside the price in use, the case unit added to Matcha Powder, and two items given a usual supplier.

What went wrong

Uploading a stock list a second time is how most people fix one, and on supplier links the handbook already had, it changed more than it said. It wrote the file's price over the old one, switched a link back on if it had been switched off, and made that supplier the item's usual one, even where somebody had chosen another. The card only said the change was applied, and Undo took none of it back.

The price also went to the wrong place. Once an invoice has priced a supplier, its price is kept per unit, such as per case of 12, and the upload wrote around that. Economics then read the file's price while recipe costs read the invoice's, so two pages disagreed about the same item.

What an upload does now

  • A supplier the file writes a little differently, say with Inc. on the end, joins the one your handbook already has, by the same rule invoice capture uses, instead of becoming a second supplier.
  • Prices in a unit the supplier is already priced in are updated in that unit, the way an invoice updates them.
  • If an invoice priced the case and the file prices the carton, the carton price is saved beside the case price and the case price stays in use.
  • When the file prices by a pack the item does not have yet, the pack is added to the item first, so you can edit that price from the item later.
  • Only an item with no usual supplier gets one.

Undo after a re-upload

An earlier update said Undo takes back everything an import did. For an upload over supplier links that already existed, that was not true until now. Undo now puts each changed price back, switches off a link it switched on, and removes the prices, units and usual-supplier choices it added. A price somebody changed after the upload is left as they set it, and the undo says so.

What the card says

Once applied, the card lists what the upload did: the supplier names it matched, each price it changed from and to, each price it kept beside another, each unit it added, and how many items got a usual supplier. It still says so after a reload.
